New research reveals: The E-Factor is an indicator of success in work and in life

May 14, 2011 |  by Michal Spiegelman  |  Balance Index, Life Coaching, Personal growth  |  Comments Off

Finding out my E-Factor™ was a life-changing experience for me. At first, I was upset that the results showed that I have catabolic (negative) energy. My coach helped me realize, that most people have lots of catabolic energy due to past experiences. From that point on, the process of releasing that negative energy and creating a positive one has been very empowering.

Working with the E-Factor helps to understand your potential and the path to success. I know this from using it with my clients but I didn’t know how powerful it is, until this week, when iPEC (Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching) announced the results of groundbreaking new research that confirms something that I’ve known all along — the E-Factor, the combined numerical value of a person’s spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical energy, measured by the Energy Leadership™ Index assessment , is, in fact, tied to an individual’s level of satisfaction in work and in life.

So what’s the E-Factor?
The E-factor is an indicator of success, it’s a numerical value (between 0 and 7) that is determined using an online assessment – The Energy Leadership Index assessment.

The assessment is based on the Energetic Self Perception chart which delineates seven consciousness, with the first two levels being catabolic (destructive, draining, de-motivating, or contracting) and the next five being anabolic (constructive, rejuvenating, self-motivating, or expanding). The Energy Leadership Index assessment quantifies the way in which an individual perceives and approaches work and life, and reacts to different circumstances and experiences. The result produces a combined numerical value of spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical energy – the E-Factor – that indicates the person’s overall level of consciousness.

The study reveals that relative to individuals with low anabolic energy (E-Factor < 2.5), individuals with high anabolic energy (E-Factor > 4) are 3.4 times as likely to be satisfied with their engagement at work, 7.5 times with their financial success and 2.9 times with their work/life balance. They are also more than 20 times as likely to be satisfied with their level of energy which is a key factor for success.

So, why is this news so important, and the study so significant?
Because we are excited to see evidence of the effectiveness of the work we do daily with our clients. Using a coaching process that was specifically designed to enable individuals to shift their energy from the catabolic range to the anabolic range we are helping our clients to be more engaged and satisfied. This shift has been documented in thousands of case studies and testimonials and I have personally witnessed my clients shifting their energy levels and gaining more success.

Affirmation of the Week: I am OK no matter what!

Sometimes life throws challenges at us and we lose our balance. We create a story in our mind and mistake it for reality. We forget that the story we invent, without even knowing that we’re doing it, is just one way of looking at things.

What can we do to restore balance?

1. Remind ourselves that it’s only a story and not reality.
2. Ask ourselves the question: what’s the worst that could happen?
3. Take actions to get centered and focus in the moment. (Yoga, meditation, breathing, walking in nature, listening to music, dancing, exercising)

Eat, Pray, Love – what is your word?

October 24, 2010 |  by Michal Spiegelman  |  Healing & Reiki, Personal growth  |  Comments Off

A few weeks ago I watched the movie “Eat, Pray, Love” with the one and only: Julia Roberts. I loved the movie, probably because I love Julia Roberts. I loved the colors, the travel, the exploration and the different cultures in the movie. I have to say though, that I enjoyed the book more than the movie because it gave me a deeper look at one woman’s search for herself in Italy, India and Indonesia. Having lived and traveled in many countries myself, it made me wonder about the driving force behind people’s tendency to search for things far away, when many times, what they are looking for is right in front of them.

Crazy To-Do List? Here is what you can do….

July 25, 2010 |  by Michal Spiegelman  |  Meditation, Personal growth  |  Comments Off

I just came back to Atlanta after a month of traveling. It was only natural for me to wake up in the morning on the day after with the longest To-Do list ever….. First, it was in my head.

When I started to meditate, the only thing I could focus on was my list. I did what I usually do when this happens: I did a Journaling Meditation. In my journal, I put it all on paper, without worrying about what it is or what it looks like. Then, I took a big piece of paper and wrote down the list I had in my head. Everything. Looking at the list I knew that it is not reasonable to think that I, or any human being, would be able to do all these in one day.

Set Your Alarm to Breathe

June 28, 2010 |  by Michal Spiegelman  |  Healing & Reiki  |  Comments Off

If you are one of those people who easily maintain balance, inner peace and serenity, you can stop here. If your stress level is usually low – today’s entry is not for you. Spend your time reading one of my other entries.

If you find yourself in daily situations where you are so engaged in your work and your “To Do” lists that your body is aching, your muscles are sore and your stress level is high at the end of the day – please keep reading.

When we stressed out, our first physical reaction is that we stop breathing. We either hold our breath or we breathe shallowly instead. The result is the opposite of what we need: we become more stressed out. The best way to get out of this cycle is simply to BREATHE.

Are you too busy to breathe? You know it’s important but you don’t remember?

Set your alarm to remind you to breathe. How about every hour? When you hear the alarm – stop doing whatever it is that you do, even if it is very important, stand up and stretch, step away from your desk, and take 5 deep breaths. If possible, bring your hands up when inhaling and bring them down while exhaling. It will only take 2-3 minutes – but your brain will become so clear and focused that you will do a better job when you get back to work.

Give it a try. Even for one day. How did it go?

Dive into the Sunset

June 27, 2010 |  by Michal Spiegelman  |  Meditation  |  Comments Off

Family vacations are always fun. For me, they are even better when they involve the beach, ocean and sunsets. My daughter took this photo yesterday while I was sitting next to her on the beach and gazing into this beautiful sunset. It is a wonderful way to meditate: Just to sit on the beach, look at the sunset and allow yourself to sink in. But what if you are sitting at your home or office and there is no way you can get to the beach now? I find that even a photo can be a worthy substitute and serve as a mini-vacation without all the travel.

Look at this picture and follow the steps:

1.     Sit in a comfortable position and gaze in the direction of the picture.

2.     While breathing, imagine the sound of the waves.

3.     Synchronize the feeling/sound of the waves with your breath.

4.     Feel your heart opens while you are breathing and looking at the picture

5.     Release all thoughts and worries into the direction of the sun.

6.     Fill your heart with gratitude for the sun, the sky, the ocean and EVERYTHING ELSE you have.

7.     Say to yourself: No matter what is going on in my life, the sun continues to rise in the morning and set at night.

How do you feel?

Your Daily Balance Tip – Spend 5 minutes intentionally looking at your hand

June 25, 2010 |  by Michal Spiegelman  |  Healing & Reiki  |  Comments Off

Why do I invite you to look at your hand?

Because Intentional Noticing is another simple way to bring balance into your life.

Let’s look at these 2 words: “Intentional” and “Noticing”.

An on-line dictionary defines Intentional as done deliberately and having to do with intention and defines Noticing as The act of noting or observing, perception or attention.

Why did I even look it up?The other day, I was interviewing Sandy Bramlett for my “Ask the Expert” series. I ask the experts I interview for easy tips to bring balance into my life. Sandy led me (and all of you who can still listen to the interview) in an exercise of spending a few minutes observing your hand. I have been practice this exercise every day since then, and it works. I feel that it makes me present, especially if I also stay aware of my breath, and it takes me away from my thoughts, my worries, my “To Do” lists and everything else.

For those five minutes, it is only me observing my hand – a taste of freedom.

Today’s tip:

Observe your hand. All directions, all aspects: look, posture, texture, color, shape, touch. 5 minutes. That’s all you need. Let me know what you have noticed.

Your Daily Balance Tip – choose your words, create your reality

June 20, 2010 |  by Michal Spiegelman  |  Healing & Reiki  |  Comments Off

“I am exhausted” I told a dear friend several weeks ago. She suggested that I should be more careful with the words I choose. We say “Exhausted” when we mean “tired.” We say “starving” when we mean “hungry.” We say “depressed” when we mean “sad.” The words we think and say often become a reality.

Today, I was telling a friend about the day I had and, instinctively, the words difficult, hard, and terrible came to mind. I was able to pause before speaking, so that I could change my word choice. With more positive words and positive thinking, my day could turn out to be less “terrible”.

What words in your daily vocabulary can you change to create a more positive reality?

Wear a variety of colors – and balance your life

The colors of the clothes you wear influence not only you, the wearer, but also those with whom you come in contact. Many times, we tend to wear the colors we need the least. For instance, when you are depressed, wearing black or grey will feed your depression. Wearing yellow and orange will cheer you up! It’s difficult for some to wear certain colors, but try wearing them – even just as socks and underwear.

Look at the chart on my June 14 blog:The Color of the food you eat – balance your Chakras”

and be creative with your color choices. Need to improve your communication in a job interview? Wear a blue scarf. Need to open your heart in an upcoming conversation? Wear a green shirt. Give it a try: this week, wear the one color that you would never wear, and see how it affects your mood and well being.

Is there a color you will NEVER wear????
