I let go of the past and I choose Love

We all experience some pain resulting from a trauma we had in our past. It might have been something that happened years ago or something that happened a few days or weeks ago. The pain is a fact. It’s how we feel, and we can’t change that. But we can choose to end the suffering.

Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional.

We suffer because we feel that we have no control over the situation. We suffer because we feel that we are hopeless and helpless.

Make a choice to stop suffering. Make a choice to stop holding on to the pain.

Simply feed the experience you had with LOVE rather than with fear. Ask yourself what you gain from holding on to the suffering?

Maybe you like the attention you get?

Maybe it helps you connect to others?

How about giving up the suffering and looking at the gifts that this experience had for you?

Maybe it made you stronger?

Maybe it made you grateful, when you realized how many people supported you in your crisis?

Maybe it made you stop taking things for granted?

Look for the gift. It will help you to let go of the past.

Affirmation of the Week: I listen to my body

How in tune are you with your body?
Are you taking the time to pause and listen to its messages?
Have you ever ignored physical symptoms you had and just kept going?
When you ignore your body and its signals, you are taking the risk of making what might be a small problem worse.

Affirmation of the Week: I am OK no matter what!

Affirmation of the Week: I am OK no matter what!

Sometimes life throws challenges at us and we lose our balance. We create a story in our mind and mistake it for reality. We forget that the story we invent, without even knowing that we’re doing it, is just one way of looking at things.

What can we do to restore balance?

1. Remind ourselves that it’s only a story and not reality.
2. Ask ourselves the question: what’s the worst that could happen?
3. Take actions to get centered and focus in the moment. (Yoga, meditation, breathing, walking in nature, listening to music, dancing, exercising)

Tuesday’s affirmation – I have the power to change my life

Life is constantly changing. When you are able to see this positively, as a series of endless opportunities, then you are empowered to choose the direction of your life.

You certainly can’t control your life, but you can affect it. It doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes all you have to do is step back and be aware of what’s happening. If you want to change a habit, commit to practice the change for 21 days. It takes 21 days for a new behavior to turn into a habit.

Tuesday’s Affirmation – I am smart and I know what I’m doing

Weekly Affirmation: I am smart and I know what I’m doing

One of my passions is to help people find their true identity, beyond all the doubts and judgments and projections. Most of the times, when I stay away from judgment and look for someone’s true self, I see a quality or a gift that they can’t see themselves. That’s the reason many of my Life-Coaching clients tell me that I know them better that they know themselves. That’s because they judge themselves and I don’t.

Tuesday’s Affirmation: I inhale love, I exhale negativity

Weekly Affirmation: I inhale love, I exhale negativity

Affirmations are positive statements.
It is important to use only positive words when we create our affirmations.
So why am I using the word “negativity” in my affirmation today?

I gave it a lot of thought and tried to change it but nothing felt right. Maybe because negativity is a natural part of our lives and the real trick is to take responsibility, to take an action and to release it.

With this affirmation, you take a very basic action that you do anyway – breathing – and you consciously choose to use this simple act to balance your energy.

Practice it right now for 5 minutes: say (out loud or silently) “I inhale love” and inhale. Hold your breath; say “I exhale negativity” and exhale. To make it more powerful, add imagery: imagine your negative emotions, thoughts, attitudes, and beliefs melting away as you exhale. Imagine love, compassion, gratitude and strength enter your system as you inhale.

How does it feel?

Tuesday’s Affirmation: I let go and trust that God/the Divine/the Universe is showing me the way

July 27, 2010 |  by Michal Spiegelman  |  Affirmations  |  Comments Off

Look at how the universe operates. Day and night follow each other in perfect synchronicity. The seasons take turns to change without ever making a mistake. Every planet is always rotating in perfect order and never deviating from its course..
If there is such order in nature, why is it so hard for us to allow God/ the divine/ the universe to guide us in the same way?

Tuesday’s Affirmation – I accept abundance in my life now

July 20, 2010 |  by Michal Spiegelman  |  Affirmations  |  Comments Off

What does Abundance mean for me? For years, my focus was on being grateful for what I have in my life. Abundance for me was only love, values, personal growth and service. Financial security was not part of the deal. It felt negative for me to want it. Since then, life experiences taught me that I should include not only financial security in my definition of Abundance but even prosperity and success. I realized that Abundance is a rich concept which includes everything.

Recently, dear friends of us gave us the book “The Science of getting RICH” by Wallace D. Wattles. What’s amazing about this book is that it was published in 1910 but his ideas are so relevant and powerful today! I will share some of his inspirations in the next couple of days.

Page 73: “There is thinking stuff from which all things are made. A thought, in this Substance, produces the thing that is imaged by the thought. Man can form things in his thought, and, by impressing his thought upon Formless Substance, can cause the thing he thinks about to be created. In order to do this, man must pass from the competitive to the creative mind; he must form a clear mental picture of the things he wants, and hold this picture in his thoughts with the fixed PURPOSE to get what he wants, and the unwavering FAITH that he does get what he wants, closing his mind against all that may tend to shake his purpose, dim his vision, or quench this faith”.

100 years ago, Wattles stated that we create our future in our mind. This idea was picked up for The Secret in 2006. Do you agree?

So what does abundance mean to you?
Do you believe you can create it if you have faith?

Tuesday’s Affirmation – I let go and accept the flow

July 13, 2010 |  by Michal Spiegelman  |  Affirmations, Meditation  |  Comments Off

Before I created my “Relax and Let Go” meditation (part of my Weekly Meditation program), I made a list of areas in my life in which I needed to practice letting go.

The list was quite long. Since then, every time I listen to this meditation, (Yes, I do… it’s on my iPod and one of my favorite ones to use during my “Meditation Naps” when I come back from work) I have new additions to my list of “letting go”.
Why is it so hard to let go?

All my life I was a control freak. I still catch myself thinking that the more control I have, the easier my life would be. It is actually the opposite: The more I am able to let go, the more I am able to trust the universe and the divine, the easier my life would be.
I would definitely say/write/read this affirmation over and over again this week while traveling back home. There are so many things I have no control over right now and so many areas in which I need to let go.

I Let Go and Accept the Flow

Tuesday’s Affirmation – I am free to be myself

July 6, 2010 |  by Michal Spiegelman  |  Affirmations  |  2 Comments

(I am taking a day off from my hospital blog to honor my commitment to post an affirmation blog every Tuesday)

“Don’t allow anybody to make you feel that you’re nobody. Always feel that you count. Always feel that you have worth, and always feel that your life has ultimate significance.”

-Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

In October of 1967, six months before he was assassinated, King spoke in Philadelphia and said these beautiful words. I saw this quote when I visited the King Center in Atlanta and remembered it while reflecting on the Fourth of July.

Years ago, I did not feel that I have worth. I felt that I was not good enough. I wasn’t sure about life’s significance. I was unhappy, negative and miserable. It was suffering and pain that led me to search for a different meaning for life. It was suffering and pain that served as my “wake up call”.

Today I am happy and healthy and enjoy the freedom of being myself and loving my life. Several practices helped me get to where I am. Reiki and meditation were definitely an important part of the process. The Hoffman Process I did a few years ago was a huge part of my journey, as well as finding a program of recovery to deal with my food addiction.

I am grateful to all the Reiki and Meditation masters.

I am grateful to Bob Hoffman.

I am grateful to Kay Sheppard.

I am grateful to Martin Luther King.

I am free to be myself

Tuesday’s Affirmation – I am open to give and receive LOVE

June 28, 2010 |  by Michal Spiegelman  |  Affirmations  |  Comments Off

Sophocles, one of the most famous playwrights of ancient Greece, said: “One word frees us of all the weight and pain of life. That word is LOVE.”

Why is love so important?
Is love an emotion or a behavior?

Can we be happy without giving or receiving love?

In addition to repeating the affirmation, “I am open to give and receive LOVE,”

I invite you to ask yourself those questions and to search inside yourself.  What is the true meaning of love to YOU?

With this affirmation you have an opportunity to personalize the phrase so it fits your needs. Where do you need improvement… giving love or receiving love? Phrase it in order (I am open to receive and give love -or- I am open to give and receive love) depending on your priority. To embody giving and receiving love, exhale when you say giving and inhale when you say receiving. Say the affirmation while paying attention to your breath.

Tuesday’s Affirmation – I step into my power and enjoy being who I truly am

June 21, 2010 |  by Michal Spiegelman  |  Affirmations  |  1 Comment

This week’s affirmation is connected to the Solar Plexus Chakra (energy center) located in the upper abdomen, between the lower chest and the navel. The Solar Plexus Chakra is all about power, courage, will, drive, ambition and self esteem. With those qualities, we have unlimited possibilities: to work, create change, take action, get up and go. What actions should you take to balance your power center, to be able to step into your power?

Tuesday’s Affirmation: I am safe to get in touch with my feelings

June 15, 2010 |  by Michal Spiegelman  |  Affirmations  |  Comments Off

Why is it important to get in touch with your feelings?

Because it makes you happier and healthier. How? By getting in touch with your feelings you actually move the energy forward, letting it go and making space for new feelings and emotions to enter. It is unhealthy to hold on to feelings for a long time. It creates a blockage and it feels “heavy” on your heart. For example, let’s say that you are grieving for a loss. The sadness you are feeling is normal and it is important to accept it. You should allow yourself to connect to that feeling, to get in touch with the sadness, but your intention should always be – to move forward. Not to get stuck. Whenever you are ready – release it. Take the risk of getting in touch with the pain, with the sadness, knowing that it is only a feeling: It has a beginning, middle and an end. Nothing is permanent. Remember: whatever you feel is OK, as long as you are aware of it. There is no right or wrong. But it is your choice if to stay “stuck” or to move on.

Get in touch with your feelings – it will allow you to move on.
